A process for the preparation of a Group 4 metal amide complex comprising a monovalent or divalent Lewis base ligand the steps of the process comprising contacting a Group 4 metal amide with a neutral source of a monovalent or divalent, Lewis base ligand group and a solid Lewis acid scavenging agent under amine elimination conditions to form a Group 4 metal amide complex containing at least one less amide group per metal moiety than the initial Group 4 metal amide.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un complexe d'amide métallique du groupe 4 comprenant un ligand (base de Lewis) monovalent ou divalent. Le procédé consiste à placer un amide métallique du groupe 4 au contact d'une source neutre d'un groupe de ligands (base de Lewis) monovalents ou divalents et d'un agent d'épuisement de l'acide de Lewis solide dans des conditions d'élimination de l'amine, afin de former un complexe d'amide métallique du groupe 4 contenant au moins un groupe amide de moins par fragment métallique que l'amide métallique du groupe 4 initial.
