A novel oriented silicon carbide sintered compact, wherein &agr; silicon carbide is orientated in an arbitrary direction and crystal orientation is controlled to an arbitrary direction; and a method for preparing the oriented silicon carbide sintered compact which comprises mixing &agr; silicon carbide particles with a solvent to form an &agr; silicon carbide slurry, solidifying the slurry, molding the resultant solid, followed by sintering, wherein the solidification, molding and sintering are carried out in a magnetic field of 1 T or higher.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle pastille frittée en carbure de silicium orienté, dans laquelle un carbure de silicium $g(a) est orienté dans une direction arbitraire et une orientation cristalline commandée vers une direction arbitraire. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de préparer la pastille frittée en carbure de silicium orienté qui consiste à mélanger des particules de carbure de silicium $g(a) avec un solvant pour former une pâte de carbure de silicium $g(a), à solidifier ladite pâte, à mouler le solide résultant et le fritter, les opération de solidification, moulage et frittage étant effectuées dans un champ magnétique d'au moins 1 T.

α型炭化ケイ素粒子と溶媒を混合してα型炭化ケイ素スラリーを調整し、このスラリーを1T以上の磁場中で固化成形し、焼結することで、α型炭化ケイ素が任意の方向に配向されている配向性炭化ケイ素焼結体で、任意の方向に結晶配向が制御された新しい配向性炭化ケイ素焼結体とその製造方法とする。
