An electrical type grid electrostatic collector/separator removes particles from an air stream. The apparatus includes multiple parallel grids (5-8) that act as the porous material, enclosed in a sealed compartment so that the entrained air flows parallel and between one or more centrally located grids (5-8). A direct current high voltage field (24) is established between the grids (5-8) with the polarities alternating between facing grids (5-8). The system is preferably used for conductive and semi-conductive materials. The charged particles are separated and collected when they are attracted toward the relatively open wire or woven grids (5-8) and pass laterally through and onto the next attracting grid (5-8) until they are out of the air stream and generally fall by gravity to the collection vessel (34).

L'invention concerne un collecteur/séparateur électrostatique à grille de type électrique qui élimine des particules d'un flux d'air. Cet appareil comprend plusieurs grilles (5-8) parallèles qui agissent en tant que matériau poreux, ces grilles étant enfermées dans un compartiment scellé de façon que l'air entraîné s'écoule de manière parallèle et entre une ou plusieurs grilles (5-8) positionnées de manière centrale.
