A fluid dispensing system provides a non-contact method of monitoring the change in the fluid volume over time. This approach avoids the use of probes or sensors that come into direct contact with the fluid to be dispensed. The system (1) comprises an apparatus comprising three chambers (10, 11, 14). The first chamber (10) has a fixed volume and contains a pressurized gas. A solenoid valve is used to control the flow of gas from the first chamber (10) into the second (11). The second chamber (11) is sealed so that the combined mass of air in the first (10) and second (11) chambers remains fixed. The third chamber (14) is adjacent to the second (11) and contains medication in the form of incompressible fluid that is to be administered to a human or animal subject via a suitable delivery port.

L'invention concerne un système de distribution de fluide présentant un procédé de surveillance sans contact du changement de volume du fluide au fil du temps. Cette approche permet de ne pas utiliser des sondes ou des capteurs venant en contact direct avec le fluide à distribuer. Ledit système comporte un appareil comprenant trois chambres. La première chambre présente un volume fixe et contient un gaz sous pression. Une vanne électromagnétique sert à commander l'écoulement de gaz de la première chambre dans la deuxième. Cette deuxième chambre est étanchéifée de façon que la masse combinée d'air située dans la première et la deuxième chambre reste fixe. La troisième chambre est adjacente à la deuxième et contient un médicament sous forme de fluide incompressible à administrer à un sujet humain ou animal par l'intermédiaire d'un orifice de distribution approprié. Un piston est disposé entre la deuxième et la troisième chambre et peut se déplacer en réponse à l'écoulement de gaz dans la deuxième chambre afin que le fluide soit distribué depuis la troisième chambre de manière désirée. Par détection de la pression dans la première et la deuxième chambre à n'importe quel moment, un processeur est programmé pour calculer le débit ou le volume distribué du fluide délivré au moyen des principes dérivés de la loi des gaz parfaits.
