When image data (GF) includes imaging information (PI) (Exif IFD), a CPU (231) calculates a modified lightness correction amount (tCurve_Y) with an exposure correction amount (exposure amount) (EV) taken into account. Specifically, the modified lightness correction amount (tCurve_Y) is calculated by multiplying the original lightness correction amount (tCurve_Yorg) by 1/2‖EV‖. Accordingly, as the exposure correction amount increases, the modified lightness correction amount decreases like geometric series. The CPU (231) applies the obtained modified lightness correction amount (tCurve_Y) to a tone curve and executes picture-quality adjustment including the lightness. That is, the modified lightness correction amount (tCurve_Y) is used to modify the tone curve characteristic, and the modified tone curve is applied to image data (GD) to adjust the picture quality of the image data.
