Ein Resonator (4) zur Verstärkung von Laserpulsen, insbesondere von ultrakurzen Laserpulsen weist wenigstens zwei Spiegel (6, 8, 12) zur Reflexion der Laserpulse, ein zwischen den Spiegeln (6, 8, 12) angeordnetes optisches Verstärkungsmedium zur Verstärkung der Laserpulse und Mittel zur zeitlichen Dehnung der Laserpulse auf. Erfindungsgemäss sind die Mittel zur zeitlichen Dehnung durch wenigstens einen Spiegel gebildet, dessen bzw. deren Gruppengeschwindigkeitsdispersion so gewählt ist, dass eine zur Herabsetzung der Spitzenleistung erforderliche zeitliche Dehnung der Laserpulse erzielt ist. Bei einem erfindungsgemässen regenerativen Verstärker weist der Spiegel vorzugsweise eine positive Gruppengeschwindigkeitsdispersion auf.

The invention relates to a resonator (4) for amplifying laser pulses, especially ultrashort laser pulses. Said resonator comprises at least two mirrors (6, 8, 12) for reflecting the laser pulses, an optical amplifying medium which is arranged between said mirrors (6, 8, 12) and is used to amplify the laser pulses, and means for temporally stretching the laser pulses. According to the invention, the means for temporally stretching the laser pulses are formed by at least one mirror, the group velocity dispersion of said mirror being selected such that the laser pulses are temporally stretched for the reduction of the maximum output. The mirror in the inventive regenerative amplifier preferably has a positive group velocity dispersion.

L'invention concerne un résonateur (4) destiné à l'amplification d'impulsions laser notamment d'impulsions laser ultracourtes. Ce résonateur présente au moins deux miroirs (6, 8, 12) destinés à la réflexion des impulsions laser, un moyen d'amplification optique placé entre les miroirs (6, 8, 12) et destiné à l'amplification des impulsions laser et des moyens d'allongement temporel des impulsions laser. Selon l'invention, les moyens d'allongement temporel sont constitués d'au moins un miroir dont la dispersion de la vitesse de propagation de groupe est sélectionnée de manière à obtenir un allongement temporel des impulsions laser nécessaire à l'abaissement de la puissance maximale. Dans le cas d'un amplificateur régénérateur selon l'invention, le miroir présente de préférence une dispersion positive de la vitesse de propagation de groupe.
