Method for manufacturing discrete articles from a material web using a cyclic master reference signal to synchronize the servo actuation of multiple operational units in a manufacturing apparatus to perform periodic operations on successive product segments of the material web and thereby form the articles, without the need for ongoing external phasing or registration to maintain synchronization of the operational units relative to the articles being made. The method is particularly suited for application in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles and other products formed from web materials. Because of the coordination by a common reference signal, the execution by each of the individual servo systems of its programmed actuation instructions results in its actuation being synchronous with that of the other servo systems. These actuation instructions can include motion profiles, torque profiles, force profiles, 'cam' profiles, and any other form of actuation sequence within the capability of servo actuators.

Procédé pour fabriquer des articles discrets à partir d'un tissu de matériau utilisant un signal de référence maître cyclique pour synchroniser l'actionnement par servocommande de plusieurs unités opérationnelles dans un appareil de fabrication, et ce afin d'effectuer des opérations périodiques sur des segments de produits successifs d'un tissu de matériau et former ainsi des articles, sans qu'il y ait besoin d'un réglage de phase ou d'un enregistrement ultérieur pour maintenir la synchronisation des unités fonctionnelles par rapport aux articles fabriqués. Ce procédé est particulièrement bien adapté à la fabrication d'articles absorbants jetables et d'autres produits formés à partir de tissus de matériau. Grâce à la coordination par un signal de référence commun, à l'exécution par chacun des systèmes servocommandés individuels de ses instructions d'actionnnement programmées, il est possible d'effectuer un actionnement synchronisé avec celui des autres systèmes servocommandés. Ces instructions d'actionnement peuvent comprendre des profils de mouvement, des profils de couple, des profils de force, des profils de 'cames' et toute autre forme de séquence d'actionnement dans les limites des capacités des actionneurs servocommandés.
