(EN)The present invention provides isolated and substantially purified nucleic acids encoding human Jade-1 (for “gene” for Apoptosis and Differentiation in Epithelia) and related nucleic acids. The invention further provides Jade protein, which, when expressed in a eukaryotic cell, has an apparent molecular weight of 64 kD. We have discovered that Jade protein functions I apoptosis and regulation of cell cycle as well as in cellular differentiation process. Accordingly, the Jade-family of genes and their gene products provide novel diagnostic and prognostic tools for identifying and/or classifying diseases involving abnormal apoptosis and defective cell cycle.
(FR)L'invention concerne des acides nucléiques isolés et sensiblement purifiés codant le gène Jade-1 humain (« gène » de l'Apoptose et de la Différenciation dans l'Epithélium), ainsi que les acides nucléiques associés. L'invention concerne par ailleurs une protéine Jade, qui, en cas d'expression dans une cellule eucaryote, présente un poids moléculaire apparent de 64 kD. Il a été découvert que la protéine Jade agit aussi bien sur l'apoptose et la régulation du cycle cellulaire que sur le processus de différenciation cellulaire. De plus, la famille Jade des gènes et de leurs produits géniques constituent de nouveaux outils de diagnostic et de pronostic servant à l'identification et/ou à la classification des maladies impliquant l'apoptose anormale et les cycles cellulaires défectueux.
