(EN)Granular starch is added to a polymer in order to decrease the cost of the polymer derivative. Use of granular starch also makes the derivative more biodegradable. The polymer blend has very similar mechanical properties to pure polymer. Furthermore, unlike other starch/polyethylene mixtures, glycerol is not added to the mixture. This reduces the water absorbency of the final product. The polymer and starch are blended together in the presence of an interfacial compatibilizer that binds the two components together.
(FR)Selon l'invention, on ajoute de l'amidon perlé à un polymère afin de diminuer le coût du dérivé polymère. L'utilisation de l'amidon perlé permet également de rendre le dérivé plus biodégradable. Le mélange polymère présente des propriétés mécaniques très semblables à celles du polymère pur. En outre, contrairement à d'autres mélanges amidon/polyéthylène, on n'ajoute pas de glycérol à ce mélange, ce qui réduit la capacité d'absorption d'eau du produit final. Le polymère et l'amidon sont mélangés en présence d'un compatibiliseur interfacial qui lie les deux composants.
