(EN)Immunotherapy of protozoal diseases is provided by use of hypoxanthine guanine xanthine phosphoribosyl transferase protein, or peptide fragments thereof, as an immunogen in vaccines effective against protozoal diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. In particular, immunization with hypoxanthine guanine xanthine phosphoribosyl transferase or peptide fragments thereof, induces T cell immunity to blood stage malaria. In particular embodiments, the invention provides protein and DNA malaria vaccines and methods of prophylactic and therapeutic immunization that elicit T cell−mediated immune responses broadly applicable to protozoal diseases including malaria.
(FR)L'immunothérapie contre des maladies à protozoaire recourt à l'utilisation de hypoxanthine guanine xanthine phosphoribosyl transférases, ou à leurs fragments peptidiques comme immunogène de vaccins efficaces contre des maladies à protozoaire telles que la malaria et la babésiose. En particulier l'immunité conférée par la hypoxanthine guanine xanthine phosphoribosyl transférase ou ses fragments peptidiques s'opère par l'intermédiaire des lymphocytes T au stade sanguin de la malaria. Dans certaines exécutions particulières, l'invention porte sur des vaccins contre la malaria à base de protéines et d'ADN et sur des méthodes prophylactiques et thérapeutiques d'immunisation, qui suscitent une réponse immunitaire médiée par les lymphocytes T, et qui sont largement applicables aux maladies à protozoaire, dont la malaria.
