Abstract:
(EN) Apparatus and method for processing specimens, e.g., biological specimens, to extract samples for both liquid (i.e., extracellular) and slide-based (i.e., intracellular) testing. Both types of samples can be obtained from a single fluid specimen. A fluid sampling station removes fluid from a specimen container and places it in a sample receptacle. A specimen acquisition station removes fluid from the container, separates particulate matter (e.g., cells) from the removed fluid, and forms a sample layer of particulate matter, which is transferred to a slide. The two sampling operations can be carried out in any order. The fluid sample receptacle may have a special one-way valve arrangement. The apparatus can be automated so as to process multiple fluid specimens in their respective containers. The machine according to this invention is a 'platform instrument' that can produce all required liquid samples and slide-based samples for essentially all cytopathology tests.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant le traitement de spécimens notamment des spécimens biologiques, pour en extraire des échantillons se prêtant à l'examen, les uns en masse liquide (échantillons extracellulaires), les autres entre lame et lamelle (échantillons intracellulaires). Les deux types d'échantillons peuvent s'obtenir à partir d'un seul spécimen fluide. Un poste de prélèvement de fluide essore le fluide d'un récipient à spécimen et le place dans un tube à échantillon. Un poste d'acquisition de spécimen vide de son fluide le récipient sépare du fluide d'essorage la matière particulaire (ici, les cellules), et forme une couche échantillon de matière particulaire qui est transportée sur une lame. Les deux opérations de prélèvement peuvent se faire dans n'importe quel ordre. Le tube à échantillon fluide peut comporter un dispositif spécial de clapet. L'appareil peut être automatisé pour traiter plusieurs spécimens fluides dans leurs récipients respectifs. La machine de l'invention est un instrument en plate-forme capable de réaliser tous les échantillons liquides et sur plaque dont il y a en général besoin pour sensiblement tous les examens de cytopathologie.
