Abstract
(EN) A method of making a finished product having a density of from 200 kg/m3 to 1250 kg/m3 inclusive, from an expanded mineral feedstock selected from the group consisting of exfoliated vermiculite particles, expanded perlite particles, and a mixture of the two, includes the steps of: providing the feedstock in the form of finely divided particles; preparing a binder comprising an aqueous solution of an alkali silicate and a thermosetting resin in liquid form by: optionally mixing the thermosetting resin in liquid form with water; and mixing the thermosetting resin in liquid form or the product of step (a) with the aqueous solution of the alkali silicate to form an emulsion of the thermosetting resin in the aqueous alkali silicate solution; mixing the feedstock and the binder to give a starting material with a compression ratio of at least 1.5:1; and forming the starting material into a mat and pressing the mat at a suitable pressure and a temperature of from 70 °C to 180 °C inclusive, to compress the mat and to cause the thermosetting resin to set to form the finished product.
(FR) Procédé de fabrication de produit fini présentant une densité comprise entre 200 kg/m3 et 1250 kg/m3 inclus, à partir d'une matière de base minérale expansée sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué par des particules de vermiculite exfoliée, des particules de perlite expansée et un mélange de telles particules. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à : prévoir la matière sous forme de particules finement divisées ; préparer un liant comprenant une solution aqueuse d'un silicate alcalin et d'une résine thermodurcissable sous forme liquide en mélangeant éventuellement ladite résine thermodurcissable avec de l'eau ; et mélanger la résine thermodurcissable ou le produit obtenu à l'étape (a) avec la solution aqueuse de silicate alcalin pour former une émulsion de cette résine dans ladite solution ; mélanger la matière et le liant pour obtenir une matière de départ présentant un taux de compression d'au moins 1.5:1 ; et façonner la matière de départ en un tapis et presser celui-ci dans des conditions de pression appropriées et de température comprises entre 70 °C et 180°C incluses, afin de comprimer le tapis et de traiter la résine thermodurcissable pour former le produit fini.
