Methods and devices for transmitting micromechanical forces locally to induce surface convolutions into tissues on the millimeter to micron scale for promoting wound healing presented. These convolutions induce a moderate stretching of individual cells stimulating cellular proliferation and elaboration of natural growth factors without increasing the size of the wound. Micromechanical forces can be applied directly to tissue, through biomolecules or the extracellular matrix. This invention can be used with biosensors biodegradable materials and drug delivery systems. This invention will also be useful in pre-conditoned tissue-engineering constructs in vitro. Application of this invention will shorten healing times for wounds and reduce the need for invasive surgery.

La présente invention concerne des procédés et des dispositifs de transmission de forces micromécaniques de manière locale pour induire des convolutions de surface dans des tissus à l'échelle allant du millimètre au micron pour favoriser la guérison d'une blessure. Lesdites convolutions induisent une élongation modérée de cellules individuelles stimulant la prolifération cellulaire et l'élaboration de facteurs de croissance naturels sans augmenter la taille de la blessure. Des forces micromécaniques peuvent être appliquées directement sur le tissu, par l'intermédiaire de biomolécules ou de la matrice extracellulaire. Ladite invention peut être utilisée avec des biocapteurs, des matières biodégradables et des systèmes d'administration de médicaments. Ladite invention est également utile dans des constructions préconditionnées in vitro obtenues par génie tissulaire. L'application de ladite invention diminue les temps de guérison de blessures et diminue le besoin de chirurgie effractive.
