By using a simple procedure and a reagent, MT1-MMP can be quickly quantified or the enzymatic activity of MT1-MMP can be measured at a high sensitivity and a high accuracy. Namely, use of a method of immunologically quantifying MT1-MMP by using an anti-MT1-MMP antibody and a reagent to be used therefor; a method of immunologically quantifying a member selected from the group consisting of (i) MT1-MMP having been released and/or solubilized from cell membrane with the use of a surfactant and/or a reducing agent and (ii) autonomously solubilized MT1-MMP and a reagent to be used therefor; and solid-phase MT1-MMP makes it possible to quantify MT1-MMP or measure the enzymatic activity of MT1-MMP. Moreover, an MT1-MMP expression promoter or inhibitor and an MT1-MMP activity promoter or inhibitor can be screened thereby. Thus, research and development of useful drugs can be facilitated. These reagents are also useful in examining cancer and cancer metastasis.

Selon l'invention, au moyen d'une procédure simple et d'un réactif, on peut rapidement quantifier MT1-MMP ou on peut mesurer l'activité enzymatique de MT1-MMP avec une sensibilité et une précision élevées. D'une manière plus spécifique, l'invention concerne l'utilisation d'une méthode permettant de quantifier immunologiquement MT1-MMP au moyen d'un anticorps anti-MT1-MMP et d'un réactif prévu à cet effet ; une méthode permettant de quantifier immunologiquement un élément choisi dans le groupe constitué (I) de MT1-MMP ayant été libéré et/ou solubilisé à partir d'une membrane cellulaire au moyen d'un tensioactif et/ou d'un agent réducteur et (ii) de MT1-MMP solubilisé de façon autonome et d'un réactif prévu à cet effet ; enfin un MT1-MMP en phase solide permettant la quantification de MT1-MMP ou la mesure de l'activité enzymatique de MT1-MMP. En outre, un promoteur ou un inhibiteur de l'expression et un promoteur ou un inhibiteur de l'activité de MT1-MMP peut être criblé au moyen de ladite méthode. Par conséquent, l'invention facilite la recherche et le développement de médicaments utiles. Par ailleurs, lesdits réactifs sont également utiles pour l'examen du cancer et pour la lutte contre les métastases du cancer.
