Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Aufzeichnung von codierten digitalen audiovisuellen Daten. Bei der Aufzeichnung der codierten digitalen audiovisuellen Daten tritt das Problem auf, daß Vorhersagen über die noch zur Verfügung stehende Aufzeichnungsdauer eines verwendeten Massenspeichermediums nicht möglich sind, da wegen der verwendeten Codierung die Datenrate der codierten digitalen audiovisuellen Daten stark schwanken kann. Zur Umgehung dieses Problems wird vorgeschlagen, daß für die codierten digitalen audiovisuellen Daten Informationen über mittlere Datenraten von Programmbeiträgen ermittelt werden, die eine Aussage über die zu erwartende Datenmenge eines jeden Programmbeitrags ermöglichen.

The invention relates to a method and device for recording coded digital audio-visual data. On recording coded digital audio-visual data the problem occurred that predictions about the remaining available recording time on a mass storage medium being used were not possible because the applied coding causes the data rate of the coded digital audio-visual data to vary considerably. According to the invention, said problem may be avoided, whereby information on average data rates for programme sections is determined for the coded digital audio-visual data, which permits a prediction of the amounts of data to be expected for each programme section.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'enregistrement de données audiovisuelles numériques codées. Lors de l'enregistrement de données audiovisuelles numériques codées, le problème est qu'il n'est plus possible de prédire la durée d'enregistrement restante d'un support mémoire de masse utilisé, puisque la vitesse de transfert des données audiovisuelles numériques codées peut fortement varier en raison du codage utilisé. Afin de résoudre ce problème, des informations relatives aux données audiovisuelles numériques codées sont déterminées au moyen de vitesses de transfert moyennes d'éléments de programme, lesquelles informations renseignent sur le volume de données à attendre de chaque élément de programme.
