A system for remote diagnosis of a communication device (200) is disclosed. In one embodiment the system diagnoses or optimizes a DSL device (202). To diagnose or configure a first communication device (200) a second communication device (202) establishes a communication channel between local diagnosis software (210) of the first communication device and a remote diagnosis center (120). In one embodiment the remote diagnostic center includes remote diagnostic software (222) configure to interface with the local diagnostic software (210). The local diagnostic system or software (210) establishes a communication channel to the remote diagnostic software (222) using a second communication device. The second communication device in conjunction with the local diagnostic software (210) records and transmits settings, configuration, or behavior data of the first communication device to the remote diagnostic software (222). The remote diagnostic software analyzes the information and determines desired changes to the configuration of the first communication device. These changes are transmitted via the communication channel to the local diagnostic software and the changes are transmitted via the communication channel to the local diagnostic software and the changes implemented on the first communication device. In this manner the undesirable operation of the first communication device is diagnosed and altered to achieve desired operation.

Cette invention concerne un système de télédiagnostic pour dispositif de communication. Selon un mode de réalisation, le système permet de soumettre un dispositif de ligne d'abonné numérique (DSL) ou de l'optimiser. Pour soumettre un premier dispositif de communication à un diagnostic ou configurer, on utilise un second dispositif de communication qui établit un canal de communication entre un logiciel de diagnostic local du premier dispositif de communication et un centre de diagnostic éloigné. Selon un mode de réalisation, le centre de diagnostic éloigné comprend un logiciel de télédiagnostic conçu pour assure l'interface avec le logiciel de diagnostic local. Le système ou le logiciel de diagnostic local établit un canal de communication avec le logiciel de télédiagnostic au moyen d'un second dispositif de communication. Conjointement avec le logiciel de diagnostic local, ce second dispositif de communication enregistre et transmet les réglages, la configuration ou des données de comportement du premier dispositif de communication au logiciel de télédiagnostic. Ce logiciel de télédiagnostic analyse l'information et détermine les changements à apporter au premier dispositif de communication. Après transmission via le canal de communication au logiciel de diagnostic local, ces changements sont apportés au premier dispositif de communication. Il est ainsi possible de diagnostiquer des dysfonctionnements du premier dispositif de communication et d'y remédier.
