Abstract
(EN)
A system and method for determining and predicting a patient's susceptibility to neurological dysfunction based on measured electrophysiological parameters employs a self-contained implantable device (110) with depth electrodes (612, 614, 616, 618) implanted in desired locations in the patient's brain. The patient's neurological tissue is stimulated to determine excitability and refractoriness (or inhibition period) parameters, which are employed to identify susceptibility to abnormal neurological activity, particularly epileptic seizures.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de déterminer et de prédire la prédisposition d'un patient par rapport à un dysfonctionnement neurologique, sur la base de paramètres établis d'après des mesures électrophysiologiques, comprenant un dispositif autonome implantable (110) comportant des électrodes en profondeur (612, 614, 616, 618) implantées dans les zones recherchées du cerveau du patient. Le tissu neurologique du patient est stimulé pour déterminer des paramètres d'excitabilité et d'hyporéactivité (ou période d'inhibition), utilisés pour identifier la prédisposition à une activité neurologique anormale, en particulier aux crises épileptiques.
