(EN)A holding seal material for catalytic converter (1) disposed between a cylindrical catalyst carrier (3) and a tubular metal shell (2) covering the outer periphery of the catalyst carrier (3), comprising a fiber aggregate mainly composed of aluminum-silica based ceramic fiber having a mullite crystal content of 10 w.% or less, wherein a needle punch treatment is applied to the fiber aggregate, whereby an extremely low pollution catalytic converter having an excellent durability and assemblage can be provided.
(FR)L"invention concerne un matériau étanche de fixation (1) pour pot catalytique, placé entre un support catalytique cylindrique (3) et une enveloppe métallique tubulaire (2) recouvrant la circonférence extérieure dudit support catalytique cylindrique (3). Ce matériau étanche de fixation comprend un agrégat de fibres composé principalement de fibres céramiques à base d"aluminium-silicium possédant un contenu de cristal de mullite égal ou inférieur à 10 % en poids, un traitement d"aiguilletage étant effectué sur l"agrégat de fibres. Ainsi, on peut obtenir un pot catalytique polluant extrêmement peu, et qui possède d"excellentes qualités de durabilité et d"assemblage.
