(EN)A high molecular weight water soluble acrylamide based polymer having improved flocculating properties is provided. The polymer is prepared by a process, in which a small quantity of a chain branching agent is added to the polymerization reaction mixture continuously or semi-continuously while the monomers are polymerized. The polymer is useful in solid/liquid separations such as flocculants and coagulants in waste water treatment applications, and as thickening agents.
(FR)L'invention concerne un polymère à base d'acrylamide hydrosoluble à poids moléculaire élevé, possédant des propriétés de floculation améliorées. Ce polymère est préparé au moyen d'un procédé dans lequel une petite quantité d'un agent à ramification de chaîne est ajouté au mélange de réaction de polymérisation de manière continue ou semi-continue alors que les monomères sont polymérisés. Ce polymère est utile dans des séparations solide/liquide, par exemple en tant que floculant et coagulant dans des applications de traitement des eaux usées, et en tant qu'agent épaississant.
