(EN)A device and method for making medical balloons such as for angioplasty. The device has fibers that may be of different materials, shapes, sizes, and directions, with the interstitium filled by a polymer materials to render it waterproof and able to be pressurized. The device exhibits improved strength and flexibility. Preferably, the device is steerable, radiopaque, and can operate at very high inflation pressures in order to facilitate low impedence angioplasty.
(FR)Cette invention se rapporte à un dispositif et à un procédé pour fabriquer des ballonnets médicaux, utilisables par exemple en angioplastie. Ce dispositif comprend des fibres qui peuvent être de matériaux, de formes, de tailles et d'orientations différents, les interstices entre ces fibres étant remplis par un matériau polymère qui rend le dispositif imperméable à l'eau et pressurisable. Ce dispositif possède une résistance et une flexibilité accrues. Ce dispositif est de préférence orientable, radio-opaque et il peut fonctionner à des pressions de gonflage très élevées, facilitant ainsi l'angioplastie à basse impédance.
