(EN)The present invention provides reagents and methods for mRNA quantification in intact cells involving providing cells that possess a target gene of interest that has been tagged with a binding site for an RNA binding protein, and a fluorescently labeled RNA binding polypeptide that includes an RNA binding domain that binds to the binding site, and calculating a quantity of expression of the target gene in the cells using fluorescence signaling techniques.
