Abstract

A recirculating composting apparatus cycles air and waste gases through a composting vessel, into a curing bin which contains previously composted material. Within the curing bin, ammonia and other noxious gases are adsorbed and converted into valuable fertilizer. The gases released from the curing bin may pass into another curing bin and then be recirculated back into the composting vessel, or may alternatively be released into the environment or passed through a biofilter. In preferred embodiment, like containers may be used for each curing phase and also the composting phase. The use of similar or compatible containers allows an entire vessel to be converted from a composting vessel into a curing bin simply by disconnection at one location and reconnection at a different location, without having to disturb the contents within the vessel or incur the undesired associated labor. Furthermore, resulting fertilizer products may be enriched with nutrients, have pH controlled, or be controlled to optimize various elements, gases, or heat during the curing phase, thereby simultaneously preventing a loss of nutrients and simultaneously increasing the economic value of the finished fertilizer.

L'invention porte sur un appareil de compostage à recirculation qui fait circuler par cycles des gaz à l'air et des gaz de déchets dans un réceptacle de compostage pour les amener dans un réceptacle de traitement contenant une matière déjà compostée. Dans le réceptacle de traitement, l'ammoniac et les gaz nocifs sont adsorbés et convertis en engrais utiles. Les gaz libérés du réceptacle de traitement peuvent passer dans un autre réceptacle de traitement pour être ensuite renvoyés dans le réceptacle de compostage, ou peuvent être alternativement libérés dans l'environnement ou passés dans un biofiltre. Selon des réalisations préférées, des réceptacles similaires peuvent être utilisés pour chaque phase de traitement et également la phase de compostage. L'utilisation de réceptacles similaires ou compatibles permet de convertir la totalité d'un réceptacle de compostage en un réceptacle de traitement par simple déconnexion à un endroit et reconnexion à un autre endroit, sans que cela perturbe le contenu du réceptacle ou entraîne une tâche associée non désirée. En outre, les engrais obtenus peuvent être enrichis par des éléments nutritifs, avoir un pH régulé ou être contrôlés pour optimiser divers éléments, gaz ou chaleur pendant la phase de traitement, ce qui simultanément empêche la perte des éléments nutritifs et augmente la valeur économique de l'engrais obtenu.
