Abstract

A process to produce a liquid crystalline polymer film comprises electrostatically depositing a fine powder of liquid crystalline polymer resin onto a carrier and fusing the deposited fine powder to form a liquid crystalline polymer film that is isotropic in the x-y plane. The electrostatic deposition of the resin particles results in a substantially random molecular alignment of the liquid crystalline polymer. The carrier can comprise an all metal foil, a metal foil laminate, a polymer film material, or a release material.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un film polymère cristallin liquide, qui consiste à déposer électrostatiquement une fine poudre de résine polymère cristalline liquide sur un support et à faire fondre la fine poudre déposée de façon à former un film polymère cristallin liquide qui soit isotrope sur le plan x-y. Le dépôt électrostatique des particules de résine conduit à un alignement moléculaire sensiblement aléatoire du polymère cristallin liquide. Le support peut comporter une feuille entièrement métallique, un laminé de feuille métallique, une pellicule polymère ou une matière antiadhérente.
