An apparatus including but not limited to a charge-coupled device(CCD)-array sensor positioning mechanism, the positioning mechanism structured to position a CCD-array sensor to capture a first target area; and the CCD-array sensor positioning mechanism further structured to position the CCD-array sensor to capture a second target area proximate to the first target area, the first and second target areas spatially related such that a first radiographic image recorded at the first target area may be combined with a second radiographic image recorded at the second target area to form a composite radiographic image substantially analogous to a single radiographic image of an aggregate target area covered by the first and second target areas. A related method that includes but is not limited to recording a first radiographic image of a first target area using CCD-array sensor techniques; recording a second radiographic image of a second target area, the second target area proximate to the first target area, using CCD-array sensor techniques; and displaying a composite image constructed from the first and second images.

La présente invention concerne un appareil qui comprend, entre autres, un mécanisme de positionnement de capteurs d'un réseau de dispositifs à couplage de charge (DCC), le mécanisme de positionnement étant structuré pour positionner un capteur du réseau de DCC afin qu'il enregistre une première zone cible et pour positionner le capteur du réseau de DCC afin qu'il enregistre une deuxième zone cible proche de la première zone cible; les première et deuxième zones cibles étant spatialement reliées pour que la première image radiographique enregistrée au niveau de la première zone cible puisse être combinée à une deuxième image radiographique enregistrée au niveau de la deuxième zone cible pour former une image radiographique composite sensiblement analogue à une seule et unique image radiographique d'une zone cible combinée couverte par les première et deuxième zones cibles. Un procédé selon l'invention comprend, entre autres, l'enregistrement d'une première image radiographique d'une première zone cible au moyen de techniques de capteur de réseau de DCC; l'enregistrement d'une deuxième image radiographique d'une deuxième zone cible, la deuxième zone cible se trouvant à proximité de la première zone cible, au moyen de techniques de capteur de réseau de DCC; et l'affichage d'une image composite construite à partir des première et deuxième images.
