A process for the preparation of N-substituted 4-hydroxypiperidine, wherein an oxygen atom is inserted regioselectively into the corresponding N-substituted piperidine, by using as a biocatalyst a bacterium degrading alkanes or alicyclic hydrocarbons, or a prokaryotic host-organism having the gene(s) necessary for the hydroxylation derived from the said bacterium, or an enzyme having hydroxylation activity derived therefrom. The bacterium may be selected from species from, for example, the genera Sphingomonas and Pseudomonas, that are capable of degrading n-alkanes having 4 to 20 carbon atoms.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de 4-hydroxypipéridine N substitués, selon lequel on introduit de manière régiosélective un atome d'oxygène dans le pipéridine N-substitué correspondante, au moyen d'un biocatalyseur utilisé comme alcanes de décomposition de bactéries ou hydrocarbures alicycliques, d'un organisme hôte procaryote possédant le/les gène(s) nécessaire(s) à l'hydroxylation et provenant desdites bactéries, ou d'une enzyme présentant une activité d'hydroxylation. Cette bactérie peut être sélectionnée parmi des espèces telles que « genera Sphingomonas et Pseudomonas », qui sont capables de dégrader les n-alkanes comportant entre 4 et 20 atomes de carbone.
