A photosensitive element (5) includes a layer of a photosensitive material (10) on a transparent, multilayer, polymeric support (20, 22) having numerous alternating layers of two different polymeric materials. A polymeric multilayer reflector (22) reflects at least 50% of actinic radiation in the range of wavelengths to which the photosensitive material (10) is sensitive. If the polymeric multilayer reflector (22) includes numerous, thin, alternating layers located at the surface of the polymeric support (20, 22) closest to the photosensitive material (42), the element not only provides increased speed but also provides an antihalation effect. In another aspect, a multilayer reflector (22) is located a distance removed from the photosensitive layer (10) sufficient to reduce any woodgrain that would otherwise occur, while increasing speed.

L'invention concerne un élément photosensible (5) comprenant une couche de matière photosensible (10) sur un support transparent, multicouche et polymère (20, 22) doté de nombreuses couches alternées de deux matières polymères différentes. Un réflecteur multicouche polymère (22) réfléchit au moins 50 % de radiation actinique dans la portée des longueurs d'ondes auxquelles la matière photosensible (10) est sensible. Si le réflecteur multicouche polymère (22) comprend de nombreuses couches fines alternées situées à la surface du support polymère (20, 22) au plus proche de la matière sensible (42), l'élément non seulement fournit une vitesse accrue mais produit aussi un effet anti-halo. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un réflecteur multicouche (22) est situé à une distance de la couche photosensible (10) suffisante pour réduire les éventuels motifs parasites qui apparaîtraient normalement, tout en augmentant la vitesse.
