A wireless intelligent personal server includes a radio frequency (RF) receiver, a memory for storing electronic files, a set of embedded machine language instructions, a central processing unit (CPU), a first interface for display, such as a personal digital assistant (PDA), and a second interface for a wireless telephone. The RF receiver receives downstream data transmitted over a downstream wireless communications channels. The CPU executes the machine language instructions to process the downstream data and, thereby, either update an existing target electronic file stored in the memory, so that the target electronic file reflects changes made to a source electronic file, or create a new electronic file in the memeory. A display device may be brought into communication with the wireless intelligent personal server, via the first interface, to access the electronic files stored in the memory. A display device may be brought into comunication with the wireless personal server, via the first interface, to access the electronic files stored in the memory. The wireless intelligent personal server may also transmit an upstream signal over an upstream wireless communication channel, such as by using a wireless telephone, in communcation via the second interface. The upstream signal may acknowledge receipt of the downstream data, or it may include upstream data reflecting changes to the electronic files stored in the memory made by the display device.

L'invention concerne un serveur personnel intelligent sans fil comportant un récepteur radiofréquences (RF), une mémoire pour stocker les fichiers électroniques, un ensemble d'instructions de langage machine incorporées, une unité centrale, une première interface pour un dispositif d'affichage, par exemple, un assistant numérique (PDA), et enfin, une seconde interface pour un téléphone sans fil. Le récepteur RF reçoit des données aval transmises via une voie de communications aval sans fil. L'unité centrale exécute les instructions de langage machine pour traiter les données aval, et, soit met à jour un fichier électronique cible existant stocké dans la mémoire pour que celui-ci rende compte des modifications opérées sur un fichier électronique source, soit crée un nouveau fichier électronique dans la mémoire. Par ailleurs, on peut relier un dispositif d'affichage au serveur personnel intelligent sans fil, via la première interface, pour accéder aux fichiers électroniques stockés dans la mémoire. Le serveur personnel intelligent sans fil peut également transmettre un signal en amont dans une voie de communication sans fil en amont, par exemple, via un téléphone sans fil, reliée via la seconde interface. Le signal en amont peut accuser réception des données aval, ou contenir les données amont rendant compte des modifications opérées, via le dispositif d'affichage, sur les fichiers électroniques stockés dans la mémoire.
