Abstract

A endovascular fastener (250) and grafting apparatus (200) preferably made from a shape memory alloy, is provided which can access internal tissue or other synthetic material by catheter (235) delivery through an endovascular pathway. After the fastener (250) is deployed through layers of tissue or other material, it assumes a shape that automatically applies to the layers of tissue or other material an appropriate hemostatic compression which is relatively independent of tissue or material thickness. The fastener (250) is a suitable replacement for conventional nonbio-absorbable sutures and staples in certain clinical applications. The shape, method of deployment and low force requirements make the disclosed apparatus (200) suitable for standard endovascular surgical procedures where access to the deployment site is limited. A method for deploying the endovascular fastener (250) and grafting apparatus (200) is also provided.

L'invention porte sur une pince endovasculaire (250) et un appareil de greffage (200), de préférence en alliage à mémoire de forme, pouvant accéder à des tissus internes ou à d'autres matériaux synthétiques au moyen d'un cathéter (235) à pénétration endovasculaire. Après déploiement de la pince (250) à travers les couches de tissus et autres matériaux, il prend une forme qui applique automatiquement auxdites couches une compression hémostatique relativement indépendante de leur épaisseur. La pince est un remplacement idoine des sutures et agrafes classiques non bioabsorbables dans certaines applications cliniques. De par sa forme, son mode de mise en place et les faibles forces requises, l'appareil (200) peut s'utiliser dans des opérations endochirurgicales courantes où l'accès au site de la lésion est limité. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de mise en place de la pince (250) et de l'appareil de greffage (200).
