(EN)The present invention pertains to a process for making an alkyl ester of a carboxylic acid via transesterification comprising the steps of; (1) reacting a carboxylic acid ester with an alcohol and an effective amount of a transesterification catalyst in a reaction zone to form a reaction mixture comprised of a product ester and a product alcohol; (2) passing the reaction mixture from step (1) through a centrifugal separation zone wherein the second alcohol is separated from the second ester. The process according to the invention allows for shorter reaction times and improved product yields.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un ester d'alkyle d'un acide carboxylique par transestérification, consistant (1) à faire réagir un ester d'acide carboxylique avec un alcool et une quantité de catalyseur de transestérification dans une zone de réaction de façon à former un mélange de réaction comprenant un ester et un alcool, et (2) à faire passer le mélange de réaction de l'étape (1) dans une zone de séparation centrifuge dans laquelle le second alcool est séparé du second ester. Le procédé de l'invention permet d'obtenir des temps de réaction plus courts et un meilleur rendement.
