Abstract
(EN) Reliable byte stream transfer protocols play an important role in modern networks. The present invention implements such a protocol using credits for flow control and negative acknowledgements (552) for reliable delivery. The credit mechanism uses credit transfer in installments and is immune to the losses or corruptions of intermediate credit installments (524). Negative acknowledgements (552) are used to solicit the retransmission of data stream component (450). The present invention provides full compatibility at the programming interface with reliable byte transfer protocols, such as TCP, and also allows full interoperability among hosts running the aforesaid standard protocol or the protocol of the present invention.
(FR) Les protocoles de transfert de flux de multiplets jouant un rôle important dans les réseaux modernes, la présente invention concerne la mise en oeuvre d'un tel protocole utilisant des crédits pour un contrôle de flux (405) et des accusés de réception négatifs pour une distribution fiable. Le mécanisme de crédit utilise le transfert de crédit dans des distributions et il est résistant aux pertes ou aux altérations de distributions de crédits intermédiaires (542). Des accusés de réception négatifs sont utilisés pour solliciter la réémission de composants de flux de données (450). L'invention permet une compatibilité totale au niveau de l'interface de programmation avec des protocoles de transfert fiables de multiplets, tels que TCP, et permet aussi une interopérabilité totale entre hôtes exécutant ce protocole standard ou le protocole de l'invention.
