Abstract
(EN) A method for determining at least one parameter of a periodic spin function $g(a)(z) with period p, to be applied to an optical fibre along its length z during a drawing process, comprises selecting said at least one parameter so that (I) where $g(e)1 is about 0.05 and $g(g)1 is the first of the three components y1(z), y2(z), y3(z) of a periodic function y(z) of period p such that (II) where LB is an expected beat length of said optical fibre and $g(a)(z) is the derivative of the spin function $g(a)(z) with respect to the length z. The method is effective for substantially reducing the PMD of optical fibres drawn while applying a spin function as determined above.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un procédé de détermination d'au moins un paramètre d'une fonction spin périodique $g(a)(z) de période p, ce paramètre devant être appliqué à une fibre optique sur sa longueur z au cours d'un processus d'étirement. Ce procédé consiste à sélectionner au moins un paramètre tel que (I) : $g(e)1 étant égal à environ 0,05 et $g(g)1 étant le premier des trois composants y1(z), y2(z), y3(z) d'une fonction périodique y(z) de période p tel que (II),(III), (IV) : LB étant une longueur de battement attendue de la fibre optique et $g(a)'(z) étant la dérivée de la fonction spin $g(a)(z) par rapport à la longueur z. Ce procédé est efficace pour réduire la dispersion de polarisation de mode des fibres optiques étirées tout en appliquant une fonction spin telle que précédemment déterminée.
