(EN) The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for treatment of pain using magnets and magnetic fields. Magnetic devices (12) can be effective in treating pain. Proper magnetic fields are believed to inhibit the flow of calcium and sodium ions in the cell membranes of nerves. Accordingly, the transmission of pain can be inhibited as well as the stabilization of other cellular dysfunctions such as abnormal fluid transport. Magnetic devices (12) producing magnetic fields having a specific three-dimensional gradient in the magnetic flux field, are particularly effective in inhibiting pain.
(FR) L'invention concerne des méthodes et un appareil permettant de traiter la douleur à l'aide d'aimants et de champs magnétiques. Des dispositifs magnétiques peuvent traiter efficacement la douleur. On suppose que des champs magnétiques appropriés inhibent le flux d'ions calcium et d'ions sodium dans les membranes cellulaires des nerfs. La transmission de la douleur peut donc être inhibée, ainsi que la stabilisation d'autres dysfonctionnements cellulaires tels que le transport de fluides anormal.
