(EN)A system and method are described to programmatically manage access between one or more nodes (12) and a plurality of associated devices (16, 18, 20, 22), such as shared storage units. Each node (12) is programmed to include a data structure (40, 46), which identifies whether an associated device (16, 18, 20, 22) is to be within the scope of the respective node (12). The data structure (40, 46) may include persistent and/or temporary lists (48, 50). Each device (16, 18, 20, 22) may be programmatically masked relative to the node (12) by dynamically modifying the data structure (40, 46) of the node (12), such as by employing a predetermined interface (60, 70, 80, 90).
