A remote control (13) for controlling a home entertainment (HE) device such as an Interactive television having a display screen (16). The remote control (13) includes a touch pad (12) mapped to the display screen (16) of the HE device as a function of the ratio of the areas of the touch pad (12) and the display screen (16) such that each location of the touch pad corresponds to a respective location of the display screen. The remote controller (14) further includes a controller operable with the touch pad (12) to enable a control function associated with a location of the display screen (16) in response to the corresponding location of the touch pad (12) being touched for controlling the HE device. The display screen may include on-screen keyboards, control panels and menus, an Internet page, an electronic program guide, and the like.

Selon cette invention, une commande à distance (13) permet de commander un dispositif audiovisuel domestique tel qu'une télévision interactive à écran de visualisation (16). La commande à distance (13) comprend un pavé tactile (12) mis en correspondance sur l'écran de visualisation (16) du dispositif audiovisuel selon une fonction du rapport des superficies du pavé tactile (12) et de l'écran de visualisation (16) de sorte que chaque emplacement du pavé tactile corresponde à un emplacement sur l'écran. Le contrôleur à distance (14) comprend également un contrôleur pouvant être actionné au moyen du pavé tactile (12) de façon à pouvoir toucher une fonction de commande associée à un emplacement sur l'écran (16) en réponse à un emplacement correspondant du pavé tactile (12) afin de commander le dispositif audiovisuel domestique.
