Abstract

The Windmill with Rotating Sails consists of a block (1) with support bearings (30) along which the reducing gear (3) is running. The generator (2) is also mounted on the block. Fixed to the reducing gear (3) is the rotor (4) with three pairs of vanes (5 and 6), three sails (7) of varying surface, and the fantail (12) which puts the sails (7) into an optimum position to the wind. The sail control mechanism consists of the central differential (9), gear ratio 1:1, which is connected by the shaft (11) to the fantail (12), and by three differential shafts (10) to the sail differentials (8), gear ratio 1:2, which imparts rotation to the sail shaft (17). Each sail (7) has a sail folding mechanism consisting of the gravitational counterweights (22), the slide (21) along which these counterweights are running, the cables (27) spreading the sail holders (19), the centrifugal counterweights (25), the slide (24) along which these counterweights are running, the sail folder (18) on which the sail (7) is wound, the sail holders (19) keeping the sail (7) spread, the upper sail holder slide (20) and the lower sail holder slide (23) along which the sail holder is running, and the small pulleys (26) over which the ropes are running.

Ce moulin à vent à ailes rotatives se compose d'un bloc (1) comprenant des paliers-supports (30) le long desquels est formé un engrenage (3) de démultiplication. Le générateur (2) est également monté sur ce bloc. Un rotor (4) comprenant trois paires de pales (5 et 6) et trois ailes (7) de surface variable, ainsi qu'une girouette (12) qui permet de placer les ailes (7) dans une position optimale par rapport au vent, est monté sur l'engrenage (3) de démultiplication. Le mécanisme de commande des ailes comprend un différentiel (9) central présentant un rapport de démultiplication de 1 :1, connecté à la girouette (12) par l'arbre (11), et aux différentiels (8) des ailes dont le rapport de démultiplication est de 1 :2, par trois arbres (10) à différentiel, ce qui permet de transmettre un mouvement de rotation à l'arbre (17) de l'aile. Chaque aile (7) comprend un mécanisme de pliage comprenant des contrepoids (22) gravitationnels, une glissière (21) le long de laquelle ces contrepoids se déplacent, des câbles (27) permettant de déployer les supports (19) des ailes, des contrepoids (25) centrifuges, une glissière (24) le long de laquelle ces derniers se déplacent, un enrouleur (18) d'aile sur lequel l'aile (7) est enroulée, des supports (19) permettant de maintenir l'aile (7) déployée, une glissière (20) du support d'aile supérieure et une glissière (23) de support d'aile inférieure, le long desquelles le support d'aile se déplace, et de petites poulies (26) dans lesquelles passent les câbles.
