A transmitting unit of a portable telephone apparatus transmits radio signals by using at least two antennas and simultaneously energizing those antennas by use of a predetermined amplitude ratio and a predetermined phase difference so that the direction of the main beam of a radiation pattern is substantially opposite to that of the audio radiation of a speaker, and so that the average effective gain is larger than that of when a single antenna is energized. The above energization of at least two antennas is performed only for transmission of telephone call. A receiving unit of the portable telephone apparatus receives radio signals by using at least two antennas, and selectively receives, by the diversity reception method, the radio signal having the highest level of those radio signals received by those antennas.

Cette invention concerne l'unité émettrice de dispositif téléphonique portable qui émet des signaux radio au moyen d'au moins deux antennes et qui sollicite simultanément ces antennes au moyen d'un rapport d'amplitude prédéterminé et d'une différence de phase prédéterminée, de telle sorte que la direction du premier faisceau de diagramme de rayonnement soit sensiblement opposée à celle du rayonnement sonore d'un haut parleur, et que le gain effectif moyen soit supérieur à celui obtenu avec une seule antenne. La sollicitation susmentionnée des deux antennes n'intervient que pendant la transmission d'un appel téléphonique. L'unité réceptrice de dispositif téléphonique portable reçoit les signaux radio au moyen d'au moins deux antennes et capte sélectivement, selon la méthode de réception sur antennes espacées, le signal radio de niveau le plus élevé parmi les signaux reçus par ces antennes.
