Abstract
(EN) A system and method of processing images using information about the source of the images (e.g., an input device such as a digital camera that captured the image and/or a computer program that was used to create and/or modify the image) and information about an output device on which the image is to be printed. The image can also be processed using characteristic data about the source of the image, the output device, and/or the image itself. For example, color-shift in images captured with a digital camera can be compensated for using characteristic data about the digital camera. Also, the source information, output device information, and/or characteristic data can be used to generate a mapping from an intermediate, device-independent color space (e.g., a floating-point YUV color space) to the output device's color space (e.g., a 24-bit CMY color space). An image can be converted from the device-dependent color space in which the image is encoded (e.g., a 24-bit RGB color space) into the intermediate, device-independent color space. Then, the processed image can be converted from the intermediate, device-independent color space and the image processing of the image can take place in the intermediate, device-independent color space to the color space of the output device. The image can also be processed so that the image is more closely calibrated to standard colors used to calibrate the output device and generate the mapping.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé de traitement d'images utilisant des informations sur la source des images (par exemple un dispositif de prise de vues tel qu'une caméra numérique et/ou un programme informatique utilisé pour créer ou modifier l'image), et des informations sur un dispositif de sortie sur lequel l'image doit être imprimée. On peut également traiter l'image en utilisant des données caractéristiques relatives à la source des images, au dispositif de sortie, ou à l'image elle-même. Par exemple les décalages de couleurs dans des images prises par une caméra numérique peuvent être compensés à l'aide de données caractéristiques concernant la caméra numérique.
