Abstract
(EN) Disclosed is a process for producing sustained-release powders that is fast, efficient, and economical. The process involves melting an animal or vegetable oil with a melting point above 110 degrees F in specially designed mixer through either the work energy input of the mixer shaft itself, or a specially fitted plow type mixer equipped with a heating tank, cooling unit, jacket for hot water circulation, and heated lines with nozzles for atomizing the hot oil to be sprayed on. The entire manufacturing process can be completed in about 5-30 minutes, and results in small, sustained-release particles that are free flowing and solid at room temperature. The preferred oil is a hydrogenated soy oil with a melting point range of 145-160 degrees F. which is applied at about a 5% level by weight in a high shear mixer. Also included are sustained-release compositions for therapeutic agents such as drugs, botanicals, biological agents, fungicides, and fertilizers.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé rapide, efficace et économique destiné à la production de poudres à libération prolongée. Ce procédé consiste à liquéfier une huile animale ou végétale possédant un point de fusion au-dessus de 110 °F dans un mélangeur spécialement conçu, soit par l'apport énergétique du travail de l'arbre du mélangeur, soit au moyen d'un mélangeur équipé de type soc pourvu d'un réservoir de chauffage, d'un module de refroidissement, d'une chemise pour la circulation d'eau chaude et de conduites chauffées pourvues de buses permettant de pulvériser l'huile chaude à vaporiser. L'ensemble du procédé de fabrication peut être achevé en 5 à 30 minutes environ, et donne lieu à de petites particules à libération prolongée solides et à écoulement libre à température ambiante. L'huile préférée est une huile de soja hydrogénée possédant un point de fusion compris entre 145 et 160 °F, appliquée à environ 5 % en masse dans un mélangeur à cisaillement élevé. L'invention concerne également des compositions à libération prolongée destinées à des agents thérapeutiques, tels que des médicaments, des herbes médicinales, des agents biologiques, des fongicides et des fertilisants.
