Abstract
(EN) An optical device protection system (20) provides dedicated and shared protection for a plurality of optical working devices which may include four-port optical working devices. The system includes an optical switch structure (40) for routing an optical signal around an optical device (20) when the optical device exhibits an error condition. A protection optical device (21) performs a desired operation on the optical signal, wherein the optical switch structure (40) directs the optical signal through the protection optical device (21). The use of the liquid crystal switches allows the optical switch structure (40) to sense an incorrect capacitance value associated with the liquid crystal switch. A control signal is then generated in response to the incorrect capacitance value. Thus, the optical device protection system (20) provides flexibility and a low cost method for protecting complex optical devices.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système de protection d'un dispositif optique (20) qui fournit une protection ciblée et répartie à plusieurs dispositifs optiques de travail, parmi lesquels des dispositifs optiques de travail à quatre ports. Le système comporte une structure de commutation optique (40) destinée à acheminer un signal optique autour d'un dispositif optique (20) lorsque ce dispositif présente une condition d'erreur. Un dispositif optique de protection (21) exécute une opération souhaitée sur le signal optique, la structure de commutation optique (40) dirigeant le signal optique à travers le dispositif optique de protection (21). L'utilisation de commutateurs à cristaux liquides permet à la structure de commutation optique (40) de détecter une valeur de capacité incorrecte associée au commutateur de cristaux liquides. Un signal de commande est alors généré en réponse à la valeur de capacité incorrecte. Le système de protection d'un dispositif optique (20) fournit ainsi une flexibilité et un procédé à faible coût de protection de dispositifs optiques complexes.
