The invention relates to a method and to devices for extracting teeth for use in human and veterinary medicine. The invention provides a method for extracting teeth which is characterized in that the tooth to be extracted is subjected to a controlled extraction process, which comprises the following steps in a chronological order: luxation, torsion, if necessary intrusion and step-wise lifting or drawing. The devices for carrying out the inventive method are configured as fixation and lifting devices in the form of fixation and lifting forcepses which are each correlated with a force maintaining device. The fixation and lifting forcepses are positioned relative to each other in such a manner that the tooth can be extracted in the direction of its longitudinal axis. In a preferred embodiment, the fixation and lifting forcepses are configured as one functional element in which all functional elements required for the extraction are disposed.
