Title: INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE COMPRISING A BALANCING SHAFT UNIT FOR BALANCING TORQUES OF THE SECOND ORDER
Abstract:
A balancing shaft unit for balancing torques of the second order is housed in the engine block (1) of an internal combustion engine. Said balancing shaft unit is comprised of a drive unit (10) and of a balancing shaft (11) having a doubled crankshaft rotational speed. The aim of the invention is to obtain a clean drive and precise mounting that involves an easy installation. To these ends, the drive unit (10) is comprised of a ring gear (24) and of a pinion (28) that is arranged therein, whereby the pinion (28) is part of the balancing shaft (11). The drive unit (10) is mounted in a drive housing (21) which, together with the balancing shaft (11), can be used as a pre-assembled constructional unit in the engine block (1).
