(EN)The present invention relates to a method to obtain a refractory carbide-based composite material, in particular as an article of a predetermined shape. According to the invention the method includes the following steps: molding of a porous blank from a mixture of powders of at least one carbide-forming metal and/or non-metal and at least one carbide, the amount of carbide component in the mixture of powders not exceeding 90 %, heat treating the obtained porous blank in a hydrocarbonous atmosphere containing one or more hydrocarbons until the increase in its mass reaches 2-42 %, thereby obtaining a semi-product, and heating the obtained semi-product in a non-oxidizing medium at a temperature of 1000-2000 °C.
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'obtenir un matériau composite réfractaire à base de carbure, notamment un article présentant une forme prédéterminée. Selon l'invention, ce procédé consiste à mouler une ébauche poreuse à partir d'un mélange de poudres d'au moins un métal et/ou non métal formant du carbure et d'au moins un carbure, le taux de carbure compris dans le mélange de poudre ne dépassant pas 90 %, à appliquer un traitement thermique à l'ébauche poreuse ainsi obtenue, dans une atmosphère hydrocarburée contenant un ou plusieurs hydrocarbures, jusqu'à ce que l'augmentation de masse atteigne entre 2 et 42 %, ce qui permet d'obtenir un semi-produit, enfin de chauffer le semi-produit ainsi obtenu dans un support non oxydant à une température 1000-2000 °C.
