Abstract:
(EN) The present invention is directed to a balloon catheter, such as a dilatation catheter and a stent delivery catheter with improved stiffness transition and specifically with no sudden changes in stiffness along the catheter length. The balloon catheters of the present invention may be used alone or be mounted with a stent in. The balloon catheters of the present invention may be used in peripheral, coronary, or neurovascular applications. The present catheter has more than one portion with different bending stiffness values, each portion comprising components that gradually transition the bending stiffness of that portion to an adjacent portion, thus reducing the differential in bending stiffness in moving from one region to another, when the catheter is used alone or in combination with a stent in a stent delivery system.
(FR) L'invention concerne un cathéter à ballonnet tel qu'un cathéter de dilatation ou un cathéter de pose de stent. Ce cathéter présente une transition améliorée de la rigidité, et se caractérise en particulier par l'absence de modifications brusques de rigidité le long du cathéter. Les cathéters à ballonnet de ce type peuvent être utilisés seuls ou peuvent être combinés à un stent installé à l'intérieur le cathéter. Ils conviennent pour les applications périphériques, coronaires ou neurovasculaires. Ce cathéter comprend plusieurs parties présentant une rigidité en flexion variée, et chaque partie comprend des composants permettant une transition graduelle entre la rigidité en flexion de cette partie et celle de la partie adjacente, ce qui permet de réduire le différentiel de rigidité à la flexion d'une région à l'autre lorsque le cathéter est utilisé seul, ou lorsqu'il combiné à un stent dans un système de pose de stent.
