Abstract:
A device for providing a true physical random number generated at a necessary rate at a significantly low cost by means of existing cheap electronic parts and existing simple technical structure for various fields where a true physical random number is needed. There is disclosed a random pulse generator comprising a thermal noise generating element (2) made of a material generating thermal noise when no current flows therethrough, such as a resistor, a conductor, or a semiconductor, an amplifying circuit for analog-amplifying irregular potential generated from the thermal noise generating element, and a waveform shaping circuit (6) for outputting a random rectangular wave pulse signal from the output of the amplifying circuit, and disclosed is a thermal noise random number generator comprising such a random pulse generator, and an n-bit counter (n is an integer) for measuring the time between the random pulse signal outputted from the waveform shaping circuit (6) and the pulse signal outputted next, thereby outputting the measurement value of the n-bit counter as a natural random number.
