Abstract:
(EN) The present invention is a display apparatus that provides protection against damage for a metallic layer. The display apparatus includes a light modulating layer, a polarizer, and a light directing film. The light directing film includes a prismatic structure having two sides, where one side includes saw tooth formations having tilted surfaces and a metal layer on the side of the prismatic substrate having the saw-tooth formations. A tilt angle of the tilted surfaces offsets an optimal viewing angle for the display from a glare angle for the display. In a first embodiment of the invention, the light directing film of the display apparatus further includes an inorganic protective layer formed on the metal layer, wherein the inorganic protective layer inhibits molecular transfer to the metal layer and balances the color of reflected and transmitted light. The light directing film of the first embodiment further includes a pressure sensitive adhesive layer between a polarizer and the inorganic protective layer. Alternatively, the light directing film of the display apparatus of the present invention includes a polymer protective layer formed over the metal layer to protect the metal layer from damage in a second embodiment. The light directing film of the second embodiment also includes a diffuse adhesive layer formed over the polymer layer, attached to the polarizer. The polymer protective layer protects the metal layer from the adhesive layer. The display apparatus may include both the inorganic protective layer and the polymer protective layer, in one embodiment.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'affichage qui assure la protection de la couche métallique contre d'éventuels dégâts. Ce dispositif d'affichage comprend une couche de modulation de la lumière, un polariseur et un film orientant la lumière. Ce film orientant la lumière présente une structure prismatique à deux côtés, un côté comportant des formations en dents de scie à surfaces inclinées et une couche métallique sur le côté du substrat prismatique présentant ces formations en dents de scie. Un angle incliné issu des surfaces inclinées décale un angle de vue optimal pour l'affichage à partir d'un angle d'éblouissement pour l'affichage. Dans un premier mode de réalisation de l'invention, le film orientant la lumière du dispositif d'affichage comprend en outre une couche de protection inorganique formée sur la couche métallique. Cette couche de protection inorganique inhibe un transfert moléculaire vers la couche métallique et équilibre la couleur de la lumière réfléchie et émise. Selon le premier mode de réalisation, le film orientant la lumière comprend aussi une couche adhésive sensible à la pression entre un polariseur et la couche de protection inorganique. Dans un second mode de réalisation, le film orientant la lumière du dispositif d'affichage selon la présente invention comprend une couche de protection de polymère formée sur la couche métallique afin de protéger celle-ci contre d'éventuels dégâts. Le film orientant la lumière selon le second mode de réalisation comprend également une couche adhésive diffuse formée sur la couche de polymère, fixée au polariseur. La couche de protection de polymère protège la couche métallique de la couche adhésive. Dans un mode de réalisation, ce dispositif d'affichage comprend aussi bien la couche de protection inorganique que la couche de protection de polymère.
