(EN)The invention provides B-ring expanded estra-1,3,5(10)-triene compounds of general formula (1) which modulate the polymerization of tubulin and/or the depolymerization of microtubules. The compounds have anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor activity. The invention also provides methods of preparing the compounds, and methods of using the compounds for the treatment of cancer or other mammalian diseases characterized by undesirable angiogenesis. The compounds of the invention are also expected to have utility as research tools.
(FR)La présente invention concerne des composés cycliques de type B estra-1,3,5(10)-triène déployés de formule générale (1), qui servent à moduler la polymérisation de la tubuline et/ou la dépolymérisation de microtubules. Lesdits composés ont une activité antiangiogénique et antitumorale. Cette invention concerne également des procédés permettant la préparation de ces composés et des procédés d'utilisation de ces composés pour le traitement du cancer ou d'autres maladies touchant les mammifères, se caractérisant par une angiogénèse indésirable. Les composés de l'invention peuvent également s'avérer utiles comme instruments de recherche.
