(EN)A feeder/programming/buffer operating system (25) is provided which controls a feeder mechanism (11), a programming mechanism (12), an electronic handling mechanism (13), a pneumatic handling mechanism (18), and a plurality of sensors (80). The operating system (25) programs programmable devices and makes the feeder/programming/buffer system (10) substantially independent of a production assembly system with which it is capable of being integrated yet fully responsive to the requirements of the production assembly system.
