(EN)An ultrasonic imaging system including a probe (112, 200, 300) containing at least one ultrasonic transducer (202, 302) and at least one inertial sensor (114, 204, 304) as well as electronic circuitry (212, 312) connected to the probe for causing at least one ultrasonic transducer (202, 302) to transmit ultrasonic energy into a region and to receive reflected ultrasonic energy therefrom, creating a plurality of generally two-dimensional images whose geometric relationship is indicated by outputs from at least one inertial sensor (114, 204, 304).
