Abstract
(EN) An apparatus for transmitting multimedia, wherein the apparatus includes an image compression unit for compressing an image portion of a multimedia data frame, an audio compression unit for compressing an audio portion of the multimedia frame, and a bit rate manager in communication with the image compression unit and the audio compression unit for controlling frame flow. A merger unit in communication with each of the image compression unit and the audio compression unit is provided for merging a compressed image portion and a compressed audio portion into a single compressed multimedia frame, wherein the image compression unit utilizes multidimensional hierarchical categorization trees to compress the image portion.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil servant à transmettre du multimédia, comprenant une unité de compression d'image destinée à comprimer une partie d'image d'une trame de données multimedia, une unité de compression audio destinée à comprimer une partie audio de la trame multimedia, et un gestionnaire de débit binaire en communication avec l'unité de compression d'image et l'unité de compression audio, destiné à commander le flux de trame. Une unité de fusion en communication avec l'unité de compression d'image et l'unité de compression audio permet la fusion d'une partie d'image comprimée et d'une partie audio comprimée en une seule trame multimédia comprimée. L'unité de compression d'image utilise des arbres de catégorisation hiérarchique multidimensionnels pour comprimer la partie d'image.
