Title: AN ANIMAL CONTROL SYSTEM USING GLOBAL POSITIONING AND INSTRUMENTAL ANIMAL CONDITIONING
Abstract:
A device (1) worn externally or parts of which may be inserted in the ear canal by an animal (2) which uses a programmable repertoire of bilaterally applied aversive stimuli (13 and 18) for the movement is disclosed. Electromagnetic signals and electromechanical hardware are activated through a dedicated, embedded computer system, that allows a cascade of one or more aversive stimuli (13 and 18), normally acoustic (18) and/or electrical stimulation (13), to be bilaterally applied to either the right or left side of an animal (2) as a cue to change its location through a specific direction of movement. Aversive stimuli (13 and 18) are programmed to be administered only when an animal (2) penetrates a predetermined boundary (5). The embedded computer uses satellite position system data (9) to determine the animal's location with respect to the closest boundary line (5) and then calculates when and to which side of the animal (2) the reperetoire of bilateral aversive stimuli is to be applied.
